What a start it has been for the third season of the biggest Cricketing event of the World, the Indian Premier League. It has just shown the world that now the time has come when India will dictate terms and will emerge as a leader on the International forum. This time the start is with Cricket and we will soon see the same replicating in near future. A number of my readers will not take this idea easily. Let me defend myself.
The act of disapproving Pakistani players in this event was really a shocking event for the Guests. But it was as shocking for the hosts too. Yes, Indians were shocked that this social boycott of “Our Beloved Neighbour” is possible in India. We have always thrown a red carpet for them no matter the behaviour they have meted to us. Our governments have always gone against the public opinion about them. We, as a messenger of peace, have always tried to have a good relation with them in spite of the pain they have given to the families of the thousands of Indians.
Even after 26/11 there are not many changes. The train to Pakistan runs as per schedule. The exports to them are even higher. We are feeding them to some extent. I am not at all against this till that same export returns to my country in form of explosives and guns. Some will argue that our patience has given us an escape from war with Pakistan. Agreed, but has India taken all the responsibility of avoiding conflict. Are we too afraid to take any steps against this immoral neighbour?? I am sure of this that these are not only my questions but of most Indians in common.
Now here comes the answer and guess what, who delivers it, our own child in cricket world, the IPL. All the moneyed people out there, owners of the teams, have unknowingly given an answer of these questions. No matter if their decisions were business oriented they proved to be a morale booster for the common man. We stand at a good position at the international forum and our decisions affect lives of many outside our country is what this event has proved to us. Moreover, it becomes a lot more joyful if we are commanding the lives of our rivals in front of the whole world.
Now, for me this is the most memorable event ever involving Shahrukh Khan, Shilpa Shetty and Priety Zinta than any of their movies. They made Pakistan realize its stand in the World and before us. Pakis are confused and shocked. They are left with no choice but to accept the failure and insult which, no doubt, they deserve. This is not the India they have been fooling for ages. India is now developing and has an ability to superimpose nations like theirs.
The funny part in the event is that the whole drama is because of money and yet has become a symbol of power for India. I learned about the statement of PCB chief of not participating in IPLs anymore. That’s great news. At least now we can be sure that the IPL money is in safe hands and not been utilized against our country. I hope he sticks to his decision and make his players sit out for the rest of the IPL seasons also. Thanks sir, I appreciate your courage. God knows what will happen in the next season, money can make them forget the disgrace.
Many of the columns I read were of the opinion that the intentions of the franchises should have been conveyed well before the auction. Was that way any better for IPL?? Wouldn’t it become a question mark on the secrecy of the strategies each team designs for auctions?? What they did was correct no matter what or who influenced team owners to do so. Rather, they reminded us of one of the basic ideologies of “Bapu”. Mahatma Gandhi never taught us violence; instead, he gave us a powerful weapon of “Non Co-operation” which has been implemented here years after its invention.
No matter what is the reason, but I would like to interpret this event in this fashion. Ultimately, it’s a joy to see rivals jumping around red faced and creating a nuisance in their parliament only and only because we did not allow them to play on our field.
Thanks
