Disgraced Shoaib....What Next??

India has rarely seen example of quick response from police and authorities, especially in cases like that of big scandals. Indian police has always kept its image of a latecomer, as shown in the Bollywood flicks. This fact has been the only one close to reality in Bollywood. But, today I wanted to discuss what I see as a change in the attitude of authorities which has been seen in the recent Shoaib Malik case. What a prompt response police have shown in questioning him and moreover confiscating his passport. May be it was a much hyped episode that made authorities to lose no time in acting over the FIR.

Whatever be the truth and result of this case, I am glad that this time we did not show “Gandhian” ways of treating the neighbor with leniency and rather went by the procedure of law. Moreover, the treatment of Mr. Shoaib has been allegedly not of VIP standard which is often the case with celebrities in our country.  The much hyped marriage has become a dilemma for former Pakistani skipper. I don’t think Mr. Malik and the people around him would not have predicted this course of events before coming to India especially when they knew that alleged 1st wife of Mr. Malik is a resident of Hyderabad. They in fact had thought of using Sania’s family’s political influence to sideline Ayesha and make way for their marriage. Moreover, the image of Indian law and court system is like a playground for celebrities. I may be wrong but it seems Mr. malik has been caught under this image and now is paying price for it.

The marriage that was becoming a symbol of so-called good relations between the two countries has become a nightmare for the Groom. A confused, panic-struck Shoaib coming out of the police station was a toast for the media. This whole episode had something humorous in it. It made me laugh to think of the future of Mr. Malik. Give a thought to this.

What if Shoaib is found guilty and arrested?? There would be sharp rise in infiltration on the western border to carry out an attack and free him away. Nah!! Who needs a skipper in Pak team now when the whole team has been fired and no one is left to be commanded on the cricket field. Or may be some IPL team owners will use their political influence to pass a bill in parliament to allow cricketers who are in prison to participate in IPL. Then, of course, Shoaib has a bright future. Moreover, if this is the case then probably the whole disgraced Pak team would land here to follow the footsteps of their skipper. By hook or crook IPL will be the destination for them.

Whatever be the case, whatever is the judgment, the prompt response of Police authorities on the issue was appreciable. I wish the same media now diverts towards other people who are enjoying life outside the prison even after being accused. Our authorities also need to show a prompt response in bringing those people to justice. If they are following the procedure of law then they should follow it completely to set an example before the world as this one.

Thanks!!
